Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC)

Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose, also known as CMC or Cellulose Gum, is a water-soluble anionic linear polymer and derivative of cellulose, which is a product of cotton or wood pulp. CMC is produced by treating cellulose with sodium hydroxide and subsequently with sodium monochloroacetate and then washing it.
CMC is soluble in hot or cold water. The uses of CMC depend on its effective thickening, stabilizing, binding, water binding, and its ability to withstand boiling and freezing temperatures.

There are several grades of CMC available based on different viscosities. Gumix International’s CMC grades are Kosher, Halal, GMO-free, gluten-free, and vegan. Gumix International’s CMC complies with U.S. Pharmacopeia/National Formulary (USP/NF), Food Chemicals Codex (FCC), European Pharmacopoeia (EP), British Pharmacopoeia (BP), JSSFA, JECFA, and E466 requirements.
